Snake Gourd
Snake Gourd is one of that vegetable which contains considerable amount of water content in it. Rich in fiber, Vitamins, Minerals. It is a detoxifier, helps with respiratory issues, soothes stomach, so suggested for ulcer patients. It helps in weight loss, hair growth, supports heart health, anti inflammatory, good for diabetes and the list goes on. Because of its curative properties, it is being used in traditional medicines.
Ingredients
- 1 Snake Gourd
- ½ Cup Chana Dal
- 1 tsp Sambar Powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Onion
- ½ Cup Grated coconut
- Salt
Instructions
- Wash Chana Dal thoroughly and keep it in a pressure cooker, just to immerse it in water for a whistle.
- Scrape the skin of Snake gourd with a knife and wash it nicely.
- Chop it into small pieces.
- Add chopped snake gourd to cooked chana dal with salt, turmeric powder and sambar powder. Add this to the remaining water in chana dal. If there is no water remaining, add little and keep it for a whistle.
- In a frying pan, add oil, mustard, curry leaves, onion and saute it till onion turns transparent.
- Add this to the cooked snake gourd along with coconut.
- Stir it gently.
- Ready to be served with Rice or Chapathi.
