Sprouted Horse Gram
Horse Gram, is called so because its a protein rich, high powered lentil fed to race horses. It is high in Protein, Calcium, Fiber and Iron. Traditionally it has been used as medicine to cure asthma, jaundice, rheumatism, bronchitis, kidney stones and also it aids in weight loss. It fights common cold, indigestion, blood glucose. Sprouting increases the nutritional value and makes all the essential nutrients easily absorbable.It is good to include horsegram in your diet to get all the essential benefits of it, but it is advisable to use in moderate, less often.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Horse gram
- ½ Cup Coconut
- 3 clove Garlic (crushed)
- ½ tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Pepper Powder
- Curry Leaves
- Salt
Instructions
- Wash Horse gram neatly by removing all the debris and soak in water overnight. Drain off water the next day morning. Keep it covered and you will see sprouts coming up by end of day or next morning.
- In a Pressure cooker, add oil, mustard, curry leaves, crushed garlic and saute.
- Add sprouted horse gram.
- Pressure cook it with two parts of water. (About 3 whistles)
- When pressure is down, open and add salt, chilli powder, pepper powder, coconut and saute.
- Serve as evening tiffin or along with rice.
Notes
Add more water while pressure cooking, to enjoy it in soupy texture.
